Frequently Asked Questions
I granted microphone permission, but recording still doesn't work.
Open iOS "Settings › KoeLab" and confirm both Microphone and Speech Recognition are enabled. Recording can also be blocked while in Airplane Mode, during a phone call, or while another app is using the microphone.
If the problem persists, quit and relaunch the app.
My scores come out extremely low.
Check the following:
- Are you in a quiet environment? The app runs a noise check, but TV audio, background music, or air-conditioner noise will lower your score.
- Are your fingers or clothing covering the microphone?
- Are you speaking loud enough? The app has a volume-check screen at the start of each session.
- Did you finish the phrase? Stopping mid-way lowers "Mora accuracy" sharply.
How do I delete all my data?
Inside the app, go to "Settings › Delete All Data" to remove session records, recorded audio, profile data, and scheduled reminders. Because this data is not stored on any server operated by the App provider, deleted data cannot be recovered.
How do I change the reminder time?
In the app, open "Settings › Reminder time" and pick one of:
- Morning: Mon / Wed / Fri at 7:00 AM
- Evening: Mon / Wed / Fri at 8:00 PM
- Custom: Any time you choose, on Mon / Wed / Fri
Reminders are delivered as local notifications scheduled on your device. You can also turn them off entirely.
What languages are supported?
The app's UI is localized in Japanese, English, and Korean and follows your iOS language setting. However, speech recognition and articulation scoring only work with Japanese speech. The app cannot recognize other languages.
Which OS versions are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. iPod touch, Apple Watch, Mac, and Android are not supported.
Can I export my recordings?
Export and sharing of audio are not offered at this time. Recordings are kept so you can play back "before / after" audio inside the app.
Is my audio sent to any server?
Your recorded audio itself is not sent to any external server for analysis. Recording, speech recognition, and scoring take place on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
The app shows "Preparing speech-recognition model…" on launch.
Apple's on-device speech recognition model needs to be downloaded once. Please wait a few minutes on Wi-Fi. After the initial download, speech recognition runs on your device.
